FARO Website Inspector Support

Help with installing, using and troubleshooting FARO Website Inspector.

Getting started

Install FARO Website Inspector from the Chrome Web Store.
Open the webpage you want to analyse.
Click the extension icon in Chrome.
Review the scores and expand any check to inspect its details.

Troubleshooting

The extension does not analyse the page

Refresh the tab and run Website Inspector again. Chrome does not allow extensions to run on certain internal pages such as chrome://extensions or the Chrome Web Store.

A result changes when I open a menu

Website Inspector analyses the current rendered state. Elements that change from hidden to visible may appear in the results, while the scoring rules are designed to avoid artificial penalties.

I cannot highlight an element

Some elements may disappear, change state or be inside dynamic components between the audit and clicking “Highlight on page”. Run the audit again and retry.

The result differs from another audit tool

Audit tools can use different criteria. Website Inspector exposes the element, dimensions and computed CSS where possible so you can inspect the cause directly.

Privacy

Website Inspector uses the activeTab and scripting permissions to analyse only the tab the user chooses to inspect. It does not request permanent access to every website and does not send audit results to Faro Digital Media.
